Startup fund has been activated and we look forward to begin purchasing important supplies for the lab. An important topic for starting labs including ours is strategic spending of startup funds, particularly in the absence of external grants.

The department of Nuclear Medicine and Radiobiology held a Welcome Reception for my recruitment. I am grateful to everyone who attended or was involved in the organization.

Attended my first Radiation Sciences program meeting and obtained the permission to supervise grad students.

Attended the first department of immunology seminar at the CRCHUS. The talk was given by Sergio Grinstein, PhD on the processed of phagocytosis and micropinocytosis.

We began organizing the lab equipment that we received last week. We are grateful to Huda Oweida for her amazing touches and assistance.

We obtained the first set of instruments and equipment for our lab. We are grateful to the CHUS administration for allowing us to obtain equipment from labs that closed down. Some of the equipment we obtained includes Western blot apparatus, microplate reader, light microscope and histology apparatus. We are grateful to Lucas, MSc student in pharmacology for his invaluable assistance in delivering items to the lab.

Met with VWR rep, Loreleï Durand who just started her position after completing her PhD from UdEM. We discussed new lab supplies and opened an account with VWR for future purchases.

And ofcourse, today I had the pleasure of hosting my daughter. We talked math and grant budgets.

I had a wonderful time hosting my son in my office. We talked about science, engineering and ofcourse video gaming. He helped with grant ideas too!

The Lab - We have finally landed on earth and it feels like heaven again! Deep in the research centre of Sherbrooke university and between the walls of the immunology department, we have found our home. More specifically, 4th floor of the CRCHUS.

The Office - Beginning of the journey - stepping into my new office and meeting my department colleagues. Placing a plant on my window that will share the office space with me and serve as a reminder that growth doesn't happen overnight!
